Vidya Bhawan Gandhian Institute of Educational Studies
The Vidya Bhawan Gandhian Institute of Educational Studies (VBGIES) is dedicated to the application of Gandhian principles in the realm of teacher education. Gandhi strongly believed that education should not be delinked from working with one’s own hands. He believed that true education should foster a harmonious relationship between intellectual pursuits and practical work. According to his philosophy, it is through manual work that concepts and principles are shaped in the mind. In line with these ideals, a school was first established in 1942. Building upon this foundation, VBGIES was founded in 2008 with the specific goal of preparing teachers who embrace Gandhian thought and principles, particularly for schools following similar principles.
